Board and Management

Recreation RRG's board of directors are elected by the members of Recreation RRG.  The Board has three seats elected by its ultralight flight members, up to three seats elected by all other members, with three additional seats reserved for seasoned insurance professionals who are elected by all members.
The Board's job is to ensure the Recreation RRG's prosperity by collectively directing the company’s affairs, while meeting the appropriate interests of Recreation RRG's members.  The Board's focus is on establishing vision, mission and values; setting strategy and structure; delegating to management; and exercising accountability to Recreation RRG's members.  The Board is responsible for vetting and selecting a qualified candidate for President/CEO to run the day-to-day management activities.  The day-to-day business is conducted under the management of the officers.

David R. Leggett
Board Member & Board Chair

David R. Leggett is a business owner in Pennsylvania and hang glider pilot.  David has previously served as president of Recreation RRG,  president of United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, and president of the Foundation for Free Flight.  David currently serves as Vice President of the Foundation for Free Flight.

Mark Forbes
Board Member

Mark Forbes is an electronic design engineer, hang glider, paraglider and ultralight pilot, and served on United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association's board of directors for many years. Mark currently serves as a member of the board of trustees of the Foundation For Free Flight.

Jennifer Bedell Arwine
Board Member

Jennifer Arwine is a school teacher, paraglider pilot and an owner of a paragliding flight school in Montana.

 

Benjamin Whitehouse
Board Member

Ben Whitehouse is a an attorney who practices within the Regulatory and Government Relations Practice Group of the Nashville office of Butler Snow, where he works with business owners and service providers on forming and operating captive insurance companies as well as traditional insurance company matters and insurance tax matters. Mr. Whitehouse previously worked at the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance as the Supervising Attorney for Insurance.

Kenton Kaplan
Board Member

Kenton serves as President and Chairman of the Board for Claim Professionals Liability Insurance Company ("CPLIC"). CPLIC serves the independent adjusting industry nationwide by providing Errors and Omissions, General Liability and other insurance products to those in the industry. Kenton holds a wealth of industry knowledge from 20 years experience managing claim litigation and extra-contractual and coverage litigation claim teams across all property and casualty lines.

Tina Truax-McCuin;
Board Member

Tina is a Private Client Regional Captive Manager for TD Wealth. She joined TD Wealth in 1990 and has worked with captive insurance companies for over 2 decades. Tina holds the Associate in Captive Insurance designation through the International Center for Captive Insurance Education.

 

Arrit McPherson
Board Member

Arrit McPherson is a serial entrepreneur with a robust track record in the maritime and tourism sectors, excelling in business startups, development, marketing, general management, project coordination, sales, and risk management. Since founding a parasail operation in 1989, Arrit McPherson has accumulated over three and a half decades of hands-on experience and has developed several training and risk-management programs. He founded an association that developed the world's first commercial parasailing standards and guidelines platform.

President & CEO

Timothy Sullivan has over 25 years of experience in management and profitable growth in the Professional Liability Insurance industry including reinsurance, marketing, compliance, product development, claims, underwriting, IT project oversight, and agency sales management.

Timothy Herr
Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President of Underwriting, and General Counsel

Tim Herr is an attorney whose practice includes insurance, litigation, and corporate matters. For many years he served as corporate counsel for United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. Since formation of Recreation RRG he has served as its Secretary, Risk Management Officer and General Counsel.

Ariel Vadeboncoeur
Assistant Secretary

Ariel Vadeboncoeur is an insurance industry professional based in Burlington, Vermont, specializing in the management of Risk Retention Groups.

 

Jessica Craig
Assistant Vice President of Underwriting

Jessica has been underwriting of a variety of recreational sports programs for almost 2 decades. Jessica has worked with diverse groups of insureds and insurers.
